Originally a jazz-influenced band, Katu Kaiku is taking steps toward a more progressive and pop-influenced sound with their second album, scheduled for release during spring 2019. In April, the band will tour the largest Nordic towns, presenting nearly 20 concerts. Founded in 2013 out of street musicianship, Kaiku has represented Finland in the Young Nordic Jazz Comets showcase. The band’s Tokyo/Kuopio debut album from 2016 resonated well with Finnish music circles and media. The first edition of the album sold out, and it has brought the band a lot of opportunities at significant jazz festivals in Finland and abroad.
