Mariana Zwarg represents the third generation of musicians playing and spreading the tradition of “universal music”, created by her godfather, the Brazilian musical genius Hermeto Pascoal. Mariana is a flutist, saxophonist, composer and arranger and performed at leading festivals and concert halls all over Latin America and Europe with “Itibere Zwarg & Grupo” during 15 years.
In 2016 she formed Mariana Zwarg Sexteto Universal (MZSU), uniting musicians from 5 different countries, thus creating a special new blend of beautiful universal music. Since then, there have been 6 European and 2 Brazilian tours playing at jazz festivals, folk music festivals, theaters, jazz clubs and music schools in Germany, Denmark, Finland, Brazil, France and Portugal.
Recorded in Berlin and Rio de Janeiro, “Nascentes” is the first album by MZSU. Mainly composed and arranged by Mariana Zwarg, the album features the musical giants Hermeto Pascoal and Itiberê Zwarg. The album has received praise and loving comments both from the critics and audience all over the world. Now, in the year 2022 we can finally have the possibility to enjoy MZSU performing the new material live in concert halls. Long Live Mariana Zwarg Sexteto Universal!
