The fourth Oulu Music Festival was organized in April 1994. The festival program included a lot of classical music, but also modern music, jazz and dance improvisation. The work of Finnish composer Jean Sibelius was introduced in a marathon concert with storytelling, and on Saturday afternoon there was an event called “musical discovery”, a set of simultaneous and consecutive concerts, of which the audience could build their own program for the night.
In the festival the artistic directors Seppo Kimanen and Ismo Sirén wanted to offer new forms of concerts and to increase interaction in the audience.
